Drew focuses his practice on high-stakes litigation, representing individuals and companies in government-led investigations and enforcement matters, and corporate internal investigations.
Drew brings over a decade of experience from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), where he held multiple senior supervisory roles. He has tried complex cases to verdict in federal courts across the country. Most recently, he served for more than three years as Chief of the Financial Crimes and Public Corruption Unit at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia. Previously, he served as a Trial Attorney in all three of the litigating units in the DOJ Criminal Division’s Fraud Section and as an Assistant Chief responsible for supervising the Health Care Fraud Unit's Florida Strike Force, one of DOJ's most accomplished teams. Drew handled and supervised hundreds of prosecutions involving health care fraud, investment fraud, insider trading, market manipulation, securities fraud, procurement fraud, antitrust violations, money laundering, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations, and fraud involving digital assets.
Drew began his legal career at an international law firm in New York. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and Georgetown University.
Healthcare Fraud Defense & Anti-Kickback Statute Defense
Drew served as an Assistant Chief at DOJ's Fraud Section, where he supervised the Health Care Fraud Unit's Florida Strike Force, one of DOJ's most accomplished and prolific units. He personally investigated and supervised cases involving more than $1 billion in fraudulent claims to Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, and other federal programs. Drew has extensive experience with investigations and prosecutions brought by DOJ Strike Forces, U.S. Attorneys' Offices nationwide, FBI, HHS-OIG, DEA, FDA-OCI, VA-OIG, CMS, state Medicaid Fraud Control Units, and state licensing boards. He has worked cases in parallel with civil investigative authorities and understands how DOJ approaches enforcement against companies and individuals. His deep knowledge of healthcare enforcement positions him to effectively defend clients facing government investigations and prosecutions, qui tam lawsuits, and False Claims Act investigations.
Cryptocurrency Fraud, Money Laundering & Cybercrime Defense
As Chief of the Financial Crimes and Public Corruption Unit at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia, Drew supervised numerous cryptocurrency fraud investigations, including multi-million-dollar crypto Ponzi schemes, transnational pig butchering schemes, and investment fraud cases. He supervised the prosecution of a sprawling crypto Ponzi scheme with hundreds of millions of dollars in investor losses. Drew uses this extensive experience to defend clients facing government investigations and prosecutions.
Securities Fraud Defense & Commodities Fraud Defense
As Chief of the Financial Crimes and Public Corruption Unit at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia, Drew supervised numerous securities and commodities fraud investigations and regularly partnered with the SEC and CFTC on parallel enforcement matters. As a Trial Attorney at DOJ's Fraud Section, he prosecuted an insider trading ring involving natural gas futures and investigated a wide range of insider trading, market manipulation, and other securities and commodities related offenses. He is also familiar with emerging DOJ priorities including wash trading and market manipulation on cryptocurrency platforms, predictive markets, and pre-IPO frauds. His extensive experience enables him to effectively defend individuals and companies facing securities and commodities and related fraud enforcement actions.
Procurement Fraud & False Claims Act Defense
As Chief of the Financial Crimes and Public Corruption Unit at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia, Drew led and supervised numerous government contracting and procurement fraud investigations, including kickback and fraud cases involving hundreds of millions of dollars in government contracts. He regularly conducted parallel criminal and civil investigations in partnership with civil enforcement components at DOJ. Drew also has experience with antitrust offenses and the DOJ Antitrust Division’s Procurement Collusion Strike Force. Drew now defends government contractors and executives against False Claims Act investigations, qui tam whistleblower lawsuits, and procurement fraud allegations, challenging the government's liability theories, contesting inflated damages calculations, and protecting clients across parallel civil, criminal, and administrative proceedings.
Corporate Investigations
Drew investigated and resolved cases with multiple corporations while working in DOJ's Foreign Corrupt Practices Act Unit. As Chief of the Financial Crimes and Public Corruption Unit at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia, he handled corporate investigations resulting in over $1 billion in penalties and fines, including numerous globe-spanning investigations of corporate misconduct. He has deep experience in conducting sensitive corporate investigations, ranging from foreign bribery, market manipulation, to antitrust cases and is well-suited to advise clients on effective compliance programs. Through his familiarity with U.S. Attorney’s Offices and Main Justice policies, he assists companies and victims in finding creative solutions to amicably resolve issues.

At DOJ, investigated and charged home health care fraud scheme that caused approximately $100 million in losses, resulting in over a dozen guilty pleas.
Served as trial counsel in multiple healthcare fraud trials, including against the leader of conspiracy to defraud a private insurer of nearly $20 million in medically unnecessary therapy services
Oversaw and coordinated nationwide enforcement action involving the provision of medically unnecessary durable medical equipment prescribed via telehealth, resulting in over $100 million in losses.
Brought charges against multiple physicians for the medically unnecessary prescription of controlled substances.
Securities Fraud and Commodities Fraud

At DOJ, investigated investment advisor, parallel to the SEC, for misappropriating client funds, resulting in guilty plea
Brought first-of-its kind prosecution against commodities insider trading ring involving natural gas futures.
Supervised the investigation and successful trial of precious metals Ponzi scheme.
Supervised the prosecution of a crypto Ponzi scheme resulting in hundreds of millions of dollars in victim losses and a guilty plea for the defendant.

At DOJ, investigated conspiracy to pay bribes to foreign officials for insurance business, resulting in multiple guilty pleas by individual defendants and resolutions with three corporations.
Supervised the investigation of two multinational companies for paying bribes to foreign officials in Africa, resulting in fines and penalties in excess of $500 million.
Supervised investigation of an international bank for tax violations, resulting in over $500 million in penalties and fines.
